1977 Graham

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

From magnum. Brick red in colour, 70% opaque. Surprising nose - rather dirty fruit with a touch of nearly faded bottle stink. Smooth golden syrup on the palate; rich and sweet spiced fruit with lots of charcoal that combine to give a wonderful complexity to the wine. A surprising burst of heat on the aftertaste that persists into the finish. The red-licorice finish is long and delicious. Surprisingly dry for a Graham port. 94/100. Drunk 24-Feb-15.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
