N47 (BMHR). Capsule showed 1947, cork showed “Quinta do”, so probably Noval. Mid-brown, 30% opaque. Nose very mature, with no fruit. Palate also no fruit, some slightly-acrid grip. Showing nicely, but very tertiary, and over-mature. I really liked the softness.

20% opacity, brown orange, hints of tobacco yellow. Only very slightly sharp nose, medicinal hints, and apricots! Rich, syrupy mouthfeel, orange marmalade, no tannin. Very mature - I liked it, so gave it ½ a point. Guessed to be Ba63.

Identified from the branded cork. Light golden red with a pale straw rim; 30% opaque. Burnt matches leap out of the glass, almost obscuring the gentle strawberry. A nice medium texture with brown sugar sweetness balanced by fierce acidity and with the burnt match flavours showing throughout. Great length. The palate is a little watery in texture but has intense flavours. Served blind this was guessed to be Noval 1970. 86/100.
