1999 Kopke

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Brick red in colour with no scarlet in the tone; rather turbid. Boiled cabbage on the nose. A fresh bottle was a brighter brick red but still slightly smelly on the nose with lots of cabbage. Baked fruit and lots of tannin on the palate; really not balanced but will likely reward a few years of further patience. NR. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
