Very similar in colour to the Special Reserve shown alongside. Subdued on the nose with a little black licorice and slow to deliver on the palate but patience is rewarded as this develops into an enjoyable and elegant mouthful with a good balance. Closes with a long finish that is livened up with a good dose of cracked white peppercorn. 86/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
