Deep purple and opaque. Really nice, expressive blackcurrant nose. Big fruit on the palate but with immense tannins and cheek-burning acidity. Great presence on the palate but perhaps lacking a little complexity. Alcohol shows early on the finish but this fades away to reveal some delicate violets. 88-90/100. 05-Mar-15.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
