1994 Smith Woodhouse Late Bottled Vintage

Post by PaulHK »

I popped into a local liquor store recently, and they had a nice little collection of Smith Woodhouse's 1994 Late Bottled Vintage for USD 25 per bottle. I don't live in an area with a great many port lovers, and this store in particular would not have been one I'd have thought would hidden any gems. But after seeing the shelf, I thought I'd do some research. Does anybody know anything about the Smith Woodhouse 1994 LBV, and if $25 seems like a good buy? Thanks in advance.

It is likely wonderful, and sounds like a steal at $25/bottle!

Aged LBV can be very good value. Try it.

It's an LBV which will happily age another 10 years so you could buy lots and drink them over the next decade (just store them lying down in a cool, dark place where the temperature is fairly steady).

Aged unfiltered LBV at that price stateside? Snap it up.

No rush to drink though - old unfiltered LBVs seem to be lasting almost as long as vintage.
