Wikipedia, in the article entitled Elizabeth II, wrote:The Queen became the longest-lived British monarch in 2007 and, if she is still reigning on 9 September 2015, will surpass her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, as the longest-reigning British monarch.
The BBC, in an article entitled Royal baby: London gun salutes mark birth of princess, wrote:Victoria and Elizabeth are arguably the most famous female names in British royal history - with Queen Victoria the longest reigning monarch, and the present Queen Elizabeth II set to surpass her record on September 9, 2015.
We should not allow such a day to pass uncelebrated.

We could choose a pretend theme, such as ‘Notable Years in the Life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II or the Life of Her Late Majesty Queen Victoria’, or a real theme. Open to suggestions. But sighted — we know much of the history of Her Majesty’s reign. (And if appropriate, this thread could be merged into a different thread that has a theme but no settled date.)

Notable years works well; several obvious options for good ports; some additional options if extended to years with notable royal events during the life of.

41.The first 'Royal walkabout' took place during the visit by The Queen and Prince Philip to Australia and New Zealand in 1970. The practice was introduced to allow them to meet a greater number of people, not simply officials and dignitaries.
Taken from http://www.anagrammy.com/misc/queen.html

Please sir, could we include 1970? This seems like a noteworthy part of her reign which should be marked!

Please sir, might I be available if so?

Whilst I would not consider myself a Monarchist, Port drinking wins out and so please put me down for this tasting. Not sure whether the theme allows for duplicated years-it it does, I will bring a D60 or if not, a FG64.

Irritatingly, it seems tht I will now be in Germany on September 9th so will not be able to join my fellow chums in celebrating (we hope) HMQE2 becoming our longest reigning monarch.

I shall have to ensure that I have something suitable with me to celebrate the occasion.

You are right! E2 is not my monarch. We left Kaisers, Kings and Queens behind us a long time ago. Due to the Royal family has a strong German link I think I should make an appearance.

This is very true - Wolfgang has much more chance of being related to the British royal family than any of her loyal subjects do.

Youngsters! I remember the Silver Jubilee, during which year was the one occasion that I beheld Her Majesty in the flesh. Inexplicably, she hasn’t since mentioned the specific occasion. Presumably she does so only in her weekly chat with the PM, in complete confidence, so we wouldn’t hear of it. Presumably.

I too have beheld Her Majesty in the flesh only once and I can say with all honesty that she smiled at me, and only at me. It was a bit of a one-on-one affair on the north side of Blackfriars Bridge. The remaining details will go with me to the grave.

On a separate note, CMAG has asked whether or not queens drink Fonseca 1970. I said yes but please let me know if that is unacceptable.
