1998 Fonseca Guimaraens

Brick red, wide transparent rim but an opaque centre. Fresh nose of slightly baked fruit, a touch of jamminess. Reluctant to deliver at first but the mid-palate is full and complex with delicious fruit and gentle tannins. Lovely lingering finish that is deliciously persistent. Very enjoyable. 88/100. 06-May-15.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
