1999 Sandeman Vau

Dark red in late youth, no purple but not yet any bricking. Modest nose with a little candied violets and icing sugar. Generous fruit on the initial impact. Good mid-palate structure with decent tannins and perfect acidity. Great palate combining balance and power. Soft chewy finish of lovely blackcurrant. Good now and for the next 20 years. 89/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
