1999 Sandeman Vau

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bricking red in colour with a wide rim and an opaque centre. A lovely nose of star fruit and beef tomatoes. Balanced entry with mature fruit starting to show some secondary characteristics amidst a lovely redcurrant. Surprisingly pronounced tannins show on the mid-palate. Sweet and tasty on the aftertaste and with a finish of licorice root and sweet raisins. Nice current drinking but no need to rush. 87/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
