A sudden emergency in London, predicted for 21 July 2015

Post by djewesbury »

What would happen if there were to be some kind of emergency, in London, on Tuesday 21st July 2015?
Has anyone even given this any thought?
Are there any readers who would like to feel that they were a little better prepared in this horrifying eventuality?
Please indicate either Y[es] OR N[o].

Venue: The Green Room at the Boot & Flogger, 10-20 Redcross Way, Southwark, London SE1 1TA.

Personnel:
  1. DJ;
  2. JDAW;
  3. AHB;
  4. CPR;
  5. IDJ;
  6. MPM.
Withdrawn / reserve list / unlikely: Current draft of the placemats; and current draft of the food order.

I will be working in London that day so could, perhaps, stay on in the evening. Life is complicated slightly by the fact that Mike has already scheduled an emergency for Monday 27th.

Perhaps if there is not much availability from others, this might be an opportunity for us to have that dinner I keep suggesting to you?

Could your emergency be sated on the 27th? I sadly need to decline the 21st.

Derek and I appear to be incapable of appearing at the same tasting unless either the total ages of the wines present exceeds 1000 years or else we are not in the UK; mysterious forces seem to prevent this. Fortunately for Derek in this case I can't make the 21st July, so hopefully he will not receive a sudden summons to a remote Scottish town for the week.

When in September? Particularly convenient would be Wednesday 9th September (if appropriate reply in that thread rather than this).

Let’s collate. I’ll assemble. Let’s assume that www.jdawiseman.com/2015/20150515_Boot_a ... u_2014.pdf is still the current menu — an update will be sought.

JDAW:
Chicken liver pâté with toast;
Gammon, egg and chips with black pudding.

Potted shrimps to start
Grilled scallops and bacon with tiger prawns and spring onion - NO CHILLI PLEASE

Clearly I am turning into a girl and will therefore need to bring some pink port to go with my girly meat-free diet.

Bland is no good. Life is a sea of blandness. This oasis of tastiness shall not be infected with the bland. I shall have the steak, black and blue with the Paris thingummy butter. No starter.

The food order seems to be complete. On Thursday it will be conveyed to the hostelry.
