2007 Quinta do Crasto LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Available by the glass from the Mizen Head Hotel & Restaurant in Bamburgh, Northumberland. Bottled 2012. Deep red in colour with no scarlet tones but equally not looking to be mature yet; the centre is just opaque. Gentle nose revealing white currants and lavender, with a promising lemon acidity. Smooth and balanced entry with lovely fruit on the mid-palate, rich and full of redcurrant. Sweet yet with a lively and cleansing acidity. A lovely fragrant and fruity aftertaste leading to a great finish of slightly green wood infused fruit that initially appears clipped but unexpectedly comes back. Pleasant stuff. 89/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
