1983 Dow

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Appearing to be in early maturity, a mahogany red colour; 60% opaque. Lively nose of redcurrants and violets, well developed and attractive. Balanced entry, gentle sweet fruit with plenty of presence and body. Gentle and delicious, but developing very nicely with patience on the palate. Gentle sour fruit on the finish. Good length. This is lovely fruit-dominated port. Served blind this was guessed to be Taylor 1985. 89/100. 27-Oct-15. 20 hour decant.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
