1987 Croft Roeda
Mature port the colour of burnished copper with a wide transparent rim, 30% opaque. A warm nose of sweetened rhubarb, sharp but attractive. Sweet entry, smooth and fruity; the fruit is baked but attractive. Good complexity on the palate with a lovely spicy edge to the sloe dominated fruit. A tingling aftertaste with a warm length followed by a delicious dry finish full of dried and sour blackcurrant. Tasty, but did fade and thin in the glass over the course of the evening. Served blind this was guessed to be Quinta do Noval 1978. 88/100. 27-Oct-15. 11½ hour decant.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny

Re: 1967 Quinta da Roeda
This was actually a 87 not 67, although it was pale and looked much older than it was.

CR87, being CPR’s backup bottle, and originally labelled ‘£’. Decanted 08:00. Lovely red, 40% opaque. Quite dry. Bitter note. Light.
