Rose red with a lovely hue, 50% opaque. Sweet redcurrant and nutmeg on the nose, lovely and attractive. Sweet and poised on the palate, medium bodied but with plenty of lively spiciness with the sweet fruit all set off by a lovely glowing acidity. There are still some very soft tannins that mainly show on the aftertaste as a gentle note of chocolate in the long and tasty finish - a finish which goes through several phases of flavours. Never a blockbuster, this is one of the best showings of this port I have yet had. Such a pity it's my last bottle. 89/100. Drunk 19-Nov-15. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
