1927 Martinez

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep orange amber colour but slightly hazy, 50% opaque. Oxidised nose (the bottle was mid-shoulder ullage, re-corked and with the fill level corrected with marbles). Smooth texture, slight rosemary and with a pleasant butterscotch sweetness. A nice curry leaf spiciness to the palate. Gentle sweet aftertaste of burnt sugar and creme brulee. Pleasant port. 85/100. 24-Nov-15. Drunk 1 hour.

Drunk at Otto's on 24 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Mz27. Red orange, 30% opaque. Nose of sweet orange marmalade. Palate also of sweet orange marmalade, with smoke behind. Fully evolved and lovely. A hint of glycerine.
