Light in colour, thin and pale appearance, a rusty red that is only 20% opaque. Horribly smelly on the nose at first but the bottle stink fades to leave a harsh fruitiness. There is more weight on the palate than the appearance would lead you to expect. Patience and air allows a gentle sweet fruitiness to come through but the aftertaste and finish are hot. This is light and pleasant, but not great. 84/100.

Tasted at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 26 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
