1980 Gould Campbell

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Mature brick red, 70% opaque. A wonderful nose of mace and all spiced infused fruit. Gentle entry, bringing elegant fruit that is mature and full of lovely spice. An enjoyable aftertaste with good elegance. A gentle but spice edge. 93/100.

Tasted at the Berry Brothers Port Walk on 26 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

40% opacity, brown-red. Spicy nose. Smooth, soft entry, with a fantastic mix of fruit, spice and chocolate flavours. This was a real surprise on the night for me, excellent port.

GC80. Soft and full, with spice and pepper. Heat late palate.
