1955 Dow

Deep red with a wide rim, 90% opaque at the centre. Wonderful on the nose, full of sweet and gently spiced mature fruit - a very fine bouquet. Gentle and languid entry; soft, smooth and silky. Depth and flavour develops on the palate at a leisurely pace and keeps growing until it is big and powerful. Hot aftertaste but a very fine finish. The overall impression is of a huge palate, full of fruit and spices consistently supported by gentle tannins. The size and power run through the aftertaste and the tannins are most noticeable on the long finish. Served blind this was guessed to be Taylor 1948. 92/100. Drunk 17-Dec-15. Decanted 7½ hours.

Drunk at the 2015 TPF Offline on 17 December 2015
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
