2013 Churchill Gricha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Churchill's single quinta. Deep purple with a purple rim. Cheesy nose, mixing fruit and stilton - reminding me of the nose of the Churchill 2011 in the first few months. I wonder if Churchill use a unique spirit that takes longer to integrate than most producers. The port is harsh on entry, full of powerful acidity and tannins mixed with ripe fruit. A nice blackberry finish full of ripe tannins. 87-89/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
