2009 Warre LBV (filtered)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Filtered, bottling date not given. Offered at the BA Lounge in Terminal 5 at Heathrow.

Deep cherry red, opaque. Sweet nose, sticky; smelling of cherry Tizer. Smooth and balanced on the palate, lots of red cherry fruit but with a great freshness from the acidity; good complexity on the mid palate. The acidity burns slightly on the aftertaste, but the finish is big and flavoursome with chewy green tannins and a good length. Medium weight port that is youthful but so smooth and easy to drink. 87/100. Drunk 12-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
