2004 Dow Bomfim

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red with a wide rim and an opaque centre. Closed on the nose with some faint flower perfume and bruised plums. Smooth entry, initially hollow but air brings strong tannins and caramelised rhubarb. The tannins are strong on the late palate. Chewy blackcurrant fruit governs the aftertaste and leads to a long red licorice finish. This is an attractive port that will reward another 10 years in the cellar. 87 04-May-16
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Still a bit closed on the nose. But the palate is fresh and vibrant. Some tannins left. Good, tasty fruit. Smooth finish. Dries the back of my mouth slightly.

90/100p. (Take this from a port novice)
