Gary (the Manager) is trying to source alternative steaks - he'll try and let me know tomorrow.

Those who have been to the Xmas bash will know that I can source the most excellent steaks from a butcher who is also a good friend of mine.

Could easily arrange supplies from Burtons of Saffron Walden and bring them with me..

..would be easier if they were all the same cut though - 12oz fillets say - or larger perhaps..?

I’m at home with covid. Was meant to be in Portugal — extremely irritated.

The NHS instructs that my “last day of self-isolation is 2 October 2021”. If there are any immuno-vulnerable people attending this tasting, such that the 2nd–6th would be too tight for their needs, then I will withdraw. If not, and assuming my sense of smell and taste continue to hold up, and that my exhaustion fades, then I will gladly take this much-needed medicine.

@ jdaw1 - Read up on it, but my understanding is you can't transmit at that point.

Yes, my understanding. Also it seems the understanding of the NHS. But the immuno-vulnerable might desirous of a higher level of paranoia. Hence my offer.

Really underwhelmed by the choice of starters and so will bypass to:

Like JDAW hoping that they will relent on the Rarebit

Steak (12 oz UT fillet preferred, 8 oz sirloin acceptable) medium with chips and green salad

My food order:

I'm Coeliac, they ask we flag this up so mine can be as gluten free as possible (they try not to cross contaminate when cooking, and leave such as croutons off)

Chapel and Swan oak smoked salmon, horseradish crème fraîche, capers
Steak (medium rare), Burton would of course be best, but otherwise sirloin from menu, with fries and green beans please.

They're working with supply chain re additional steak choices & will update soon.
More importantly though they've agreed to do Welsh rarebit.

I spoke to Gary earlier - he seemed a bit frustrated with Davy's internal supply situation, and said that if he didn't get a clear answer by Friday he'd let us bring our own steaks.

Regretfully, I am going to have to withdraw from the Warre tasting [head in hands] due to a work conflict which has arisen and which I cannot avoid. Extremely frustrating. Please open my spot up in case someone else can have the opportunity; assuming at this late stage this is unlikely, I will of course cover costs. I've also sent you (Neil) a PM. Argh.

The current draft of the placemats assumes that the vintages are 1922, 1934, 1942, 1945, 1947, 1950, 1955, 1958, 1960, 1963, 1966, 1970, 1975, and 1977. Please confirm that this is as it should be, or correct it.

Because table space will be tight, the PlaceName pages are on A5. So printing will need three pages sizes: A3 (glasses), A5 (PlaceNames), and A4 (everything else).

I’ve asked Anthony and Will to let me know their preference and will pass these on when I can.

Right, cost per head comes out at approx £200. A number of people are supplying bottles with a value greater than this so will be receiving funds. I’ll send out requests for payment on Sunday. Would appreciate a quick turnaround so I can get outbound payments sorted in advance of Wednesday.

B&F have sourced a 300g ribeye from Donald Russell. Does anyone want to change their food order to include this?

To speed things along can I request that people bring their bottles pre-decanted.

If you are bringing bottle(s) then can you aim to be there for 1830 so we can get them poured.
