Tapatalk now displays nested quotes even worse than it used to; the second 'unquote' tag simply doesn't get read and is printed as part of the message. Rubbish.

Tapatalk just updated itself to the new version on my iPhone. This latest incarnation is a fine example of how to take something useful, simple and intuitive and ruin it.

I've always preferred viewing the full site on mobile browser rather than using tapatalk.

However, I do find it frustrating that I frequently receive the pop-up message suggesting that I visit apple store for the tapatalk app. Anyone know how to turn that off?

The only reason I started using Tapatalk was that the buttons on the full site are just too small on a mobile screen. On my iPad, I can use the full site without a problem. And now that Tapatalk has just updated itself on that to an even worse new version, I will stop using it there.
Not sure how you can get rid of the Tapatalk splash Rob - I suspect that the server-side Tapatalk driver is pushing that to you whenever you look at the full site on a mobile device. Admins, do you have an option to disable that feature?

Tapatalk works fine now on Android. It didn't work from around February to November this year (I had given up all hope it would ever work again but then Android users got an early gift from Santa). So I would be very much in in favour of continuing with Tapatalk (at least on Android).

Unhelpful comments reinforcing the existential conflict between different brands of gimmick fail to address the fact that Tapatalk security seems to have been broached and may compromise the site itself. When I click on the thumbnail view on the Feed page (having set up the Settings accordingly) I get a lot of pictures of port but prior to them I get a lot of pictures of porn. This may be an alphabetising / indexing problem with Tapatalk but it is hardly what we want to encourage!!

I'm using the Tapatalk application on Android with no problems (and have not seen Andre's issues for the last year either); I admit I do not like the new interface much following the last update though. I'm also using the paid-for version, rather than the ad-based, if that makes a difference.

Is the problem more to do with adverts? If so, then either de-install tapatalk and use the web version (I use the web version instead sometimes for browsing now that the interface has changed), or buy the pro version (not expensive). If it is an Apple-only problem, and/or affects tapatalk across all sites, then no need to remove ability from TPF, assuming it does not affect TPF security itself (which I would assume should be read-only, unless it is has potential to leak logins).

Besides, the adverts you see are probably targeted, based on your inferred device use and browsing history ;)

These are not adverts. I am also using the paid-for version. The thumbnail view in the feed is meant to show pictures that have been extracted from the forum. Instead it shows about five or so thumbnails of porn sites followed by pages from the forum. Those five or so thumbnails then take one (if clicked) to normal pages within the forum. But at the bottom of each thumb is the text 'regina - the port forum'. We do not have a user by that name.

Do a test. In the settings available on the Feed page (by clicking the icon top right of screen) tell it to show 10 Unread stories and then tick the port forum in the list at the bottom to ensure that the Feed page is active. Then click on the thumbnails icon and tell us what you see. I see the same extraneous pages on my iPad and iPhone. This, I can assure you, has nothing to do with my browsing history; and Tapatalk can't access that anyway.

There's your problem.

I don't use the feed. I use Tapatalk for both TPF and FTLOP and want to read one site at a time, so I use the Profile tab instead.

I do not sign into Tapatalk, so any problems they've had due to hacking do not affect me as I do not use a Tapatalk ID. Tapatalk merely serves as a conduit for the data provided by TPF and FTLOP.

<Speculation>
The Feed is Tapatalk's way of providing you with content it thinks you might like, while simultaneously providing you with information you've asked it to provide. I come to this conclusion based on my brief experience with the Feed when I upgraded to Tapatalk 4 and it was turned on by default. I don't care what Tapatalk thinks I might want to see, so spent several minutes figuring out how to turn it off. (You can't as near as I can tell, at least not entirely.) But what you can do is ignore it, which is what I do by using the Profile tab (the little head-and-shoulders icon vs the house icon) to do my reading.

Since the feed is generated by Tapatalk, it poses no security issues for TPF or FTLOP. TPF data is presented by Tapatalk in the Feed, but that's it.
</Speculation>

Using Profile by default is easy (at least on Android; I assume it works the same on iOS) - open Settings, and in the first section (Look & Feel) there's a selection for Tab Behavoir. Set that to Profile. From then on the app will open to the Profile tab instead of the Feed tab and you won't have to worry about it again.

The Profile tab lists each of the forums to which you subscribe. Select one to be taken to a list of the unread posts in that forum. Easy peasy.

Interesting. You don't sign in to Tapatalk. I thought you had to sign in. I will try not signing in. But this is irrelevant. There is no way not to get the Feed on an iDevice, even if you switch all its functionality off so the screen is empty it is still the default opening page (even when it's not set to be so).
