A wonderful story and a very full and varied life.. Strange, and gratifying, it must indeed have been to discover that his achievements were studied by young historians. I hope this is still the case!

We had a system and it seemed to work, now we are off on some fresh madness. That way lies anarchy, I think we should all wait patiently until DRT is back.
I've got these coloured pens to organise into some kind of coherent taxonomy.

As with your critique of Kubrick's ouvre, so with the arrangments of coloured pens. The Richard of York gave battle in vien (sic) gives no thought to magenta, and what of those browns and ochres?

Magenta so obviously goes in between Vein and Richard. This is an infinite circle. As for your browns and ochres, they go in a separate tray to one side, with your blacks, whites, and your 24 greys.

OK, busted, my spelling and grammar should not allow me to be sniffy about that of others. But I find it almost irresistable at times, indulge me.
And then you bring on the idea that I can go in a perpetual loop with colours, but the greys whites and black in a seperate tray. I have always assumed that I should start at one end and finish at the other.
I shall consider this carefully over a glass and 'Millers Crossing' which is one of my favourites (and starting shortly). What would that wind blown hat tell me about the arrangment of pens?

I think that the question of the hat is one which has troubled the critical world for too long for me to come up with an answer as to what it means for the ARRANGEMENT of pens. It would be open to too much debate.
If anybody knows the answer as to whether Albert Finney is really wearing a rug in this movie that could be a question. Daniel?

Yes I believe it's a rug. Finney was in one of the worst film adaptations I ever saw, can anyone guess what it was?
