The BW's 50 is to this what Fonseca 1970 is to Royal Oporto Ruby.djewesbury wrote:Was it a BW's 50?
Not your turn.djewesbury wrote:Not one of these?
Glenn, we're looking for bottom-of-the-range, step-through mopeds from the 1970s. In blue. So go crazy. He's already discounted all the really terrible ones. So it must be even worse.Glenn E. wrote:Conveniently I just logged on and have actually looked at Yamahas as potential purchases.
However I think you've already guessed at my end of the range. And I didn't take the time to thoroughly read the last 4 pages of guesses. So I'll just guess the bike I was looking into before I came to my senses.
FJR1300?
What a piece of ****! I'm trying to picture you on it as a young man...
No problem. You got a free guess that nobody else saw.. No, not the garbage disposal, not port sediment.Glenn E. wrote:Oops, was editing when you responded. You weren't online!
No. Don't ever let Derek hear you use the words 'leftover pork pie ingredients' in the same sentence as 'bin'.AHB wrote:The bin bag which was about to have the leftover pork pie ingredients put into it.
Please, people, there is no problem with the pork pies. Stop trying to panic everyone.Glenn E. wrote:The oven, and you were about to put in a pork pie?
Well, that would explain why you were putting leftover pork pie ingredients in the bin.djewesbury wrote:Please, people, there is no problem with the pork pies. Stop trying to panic everyone.Glenn E. wrote:The oven, and you were about to put in a pork pie?
You are nearly there so stay with us. You just need to be more specific. What glass (kind) and what port (vintage)? Should be easy.LGTrotter wrote:I promised my family at an 'intervention' that I would go cold turkey on this thread but surely one more go couldn't do any harm?
The glass you were about to put your port in?
The glass is not quite as good; the port is better. Now did I write a TN last week...?Glenn E. wrote:A Riedel Vinum Port glass broke. You were about to use it to drink a 1983... GC?
The intervention was not actually from my family but from myself. I needed to walk away from time to time, wash; speak to others and the like. I can't actually guess at present but you have my sympathy about broken glasses. I broke an old favourite of mine a couple of weeks back and I miss it terribly. Riedel glasses on the other hand I break by coughing loudly near them and care not a jot for.djewesbury wrote:You are nearly there so stay with us. You just need to be more specific. We've all been there. Soldier on. Everything will be fine.LGTrotter wrote:I promised my family at an 'intervention' that I would go cold turkey on this thread
I was all cross eyed and confused at work today though. And as I drove home I was thinking 'Derek must have had a fizzy' (Yamaha FS1E to the uninitiated). I know in the event I was wrong but it's a bit odd to be excited about identifying a moped belonging to someone most of thirty years ago who I have never met on a forum for the discussion of port. Isn't it?DRT wrote:We've all been there. Soldier on. Everything will be fine.LGTrotter wrote:I promised my family at an 'intervention' that I would go cold turkey on this thread
Inexact; incorrect.DRT wrote:A glass and Croft Roeda 1987?
I don't think he really wants this one does he.djewesbury wrote:Inexact; incorrect.DRT wrote:A glass and Croft Roeda 1987?
Better than a standard INAO; vintage correct.AHB wrote:An INAO glass and 1980 Dow
I actually wondered momentarily where the tape measure was, but no I will not be drawn into your madness.djewesbury wrote:The diameter of the foot of this glass is 72mm.
The tape measure is here. No.LGTrotter wrote:I actually wondered momentarily where the tape measure was, but no I will not be drawn into your madness.djewesbury wrote:The diameter of the foot of this glass is 72mm.
A Dartington port glass. (I know it's too big and probably too upmarket but at least others get to guess and it's one of my favourites for slurping cooking port)
Pay attention; we already have the VP - yes, 1980, a Dow. But not a Vinicole glass.Glenn E. wrote:A Viticole tasting glass and a 1980 VP?
1980, yes. I was simply making a complete guess rather than leaving off the already known elements. Besides, Dow was unclear:djewesbury wrote:Pay attention; we already have the VP - yes, 1980, a Dow. But not a Vinicole glass.

Interesting, and pertinent! I believe these are very reasonably priced.Glenn E. wrote:By the way, did you see:

I see what's happening here. What's to stop me saying "Correct!"?AHB wrote:A straight sided pint glass
I think we would all have to send you a white feather but then you would turn up in the final scene, disguised as a waiter at 'the bung hole' and revive everybody with an unknown imperial of 63 Fonseca...djewesbury wrote: What's to stop me saying "Correct!"?
