Sorry, I meant after, not before the miners' strike.

It would appear that you were striking in support of a 12 percent pay rise for health workers.

True; it is not that I loved Caesar less but that I loved Rome more. (cue; 'What's Owen on about?')

The curry has me stumped.
Chicken you say? Chicken tandori? (not my turn)

(Enter Skippy)

'What's that Skippy? Daniel is stuck down a mine and wants to enter the following guess? And the guess is that Derek was working at GCHQ at the time and had a simple Balti?'

So now Daniel has had a go I guess it's my turn?

Yes, but if he was here he would want me to introduce a ficticious guess for him via Australia's premier anthropomorphic kangaroo vehicle.

OK; I get the message. Shame really because I have been working on several scenarios where Daniel guesses via the medium of B-list tv shows. My current favourite is where he reprises Todd Carty's role in 'Tuckers Luck' the overlooked 'Grange Hill' spin off.

Gentlemen.

Forgive me for being asleep last night while you two were trapped down a mine with a talking kangaroo.

May I recap?

You say this strike was in 82 / 82 but you say it was after the Miners' Strike? That was in 84 / 85. Clarification please.

I have consulted a former member of the FDA, who remembers this as a strike in which FDA members, unusually, took part. He does not remember what it was about particularly; pay, but conditions also, and the pay structure. Something to do with overtime perhaps?

It was obviously a Chicken Biryani.

Chicken Korma and an overtime ban.

Actually, an overtime ban wouldn't have affected FDA staff.. I wonder if it was a government failure to implement a pay agreement?

And a chicken tandoori (sorry Owen, stole your guess).

Hmmm....a quick bit of googling does not seem to have been particularly illuminating. However, i did find a useful civil service trade union "family tree" that shows what exactly existed back in 82...perhaps more specific searches based on this will help.

Korma as the curry.

The main union to google out of that lot is the CPSA (Civil and Public Services Association), I think... They were certainly on strike around then...

Not a problem; his total guess (including both halves) is still new and now, valid (and sometimes they're not even new!)

Chicken Dhansak; striking for more staff.

Lots of permutations to consider from the above guesses.

Chicken Korma was obviously the first-timer curry. I have never ordered it since that day but it opened a door.

The industrial dispute has been mentioned, but not in a way that Maggie would allow me to deem legally permissible.

Chicken Korma and a "work to rule" i.e. you'd done your contracted hours already (either stopping in support of colleagues or because overtime was banned).

Derek is trying to create a schism by introducing such a question whose essence still burns bright.
djewesbury wrote: I suggest Owen should be allowed to ask a subsidiary question, in accordance with Rule 27.3 (iv)
Surely this can only be invoked with the express authority of 2/3 of those with A shares and a simple majority of those with B shares? As set out in the accompanying notes.

All B shares and 40% of A shares are now owned by George Osborne. He votes yes.

There are many clues available, shall we begin with it being published in the fifties? Yes we shall.

But this question is a small example of the experience of portvintages.com. Start with what is commonly known; do lots of work to plug the gaps; publish; receive feedback "why didn't you include these fifteen that I have?". :?

You catch me in philosophical mood (tea-towel variety only, I have been drinking);

I hope you do it because you love it. It is enough to have started a work, one can never hope to complete it. Because you are probably the best man for the job. It is better to have loved and to have lost than to have paid for it and not liked it. As Mr somebody, the author of 'All the information about port' will write in his introduction in 2046 'I should like to thank Mr Turnbull without whose tireless industry...'. If we have seen further it is only because we have stood on the shoulders of giants.
