I have to admit that I didn't catch the clue at all... that was just a guess.

What does the guy at the gates have to do with Tilapia?
I'm going to have to think a bit to come up with the next quiz... more in a bit.

Tilapia is also known as "St Peter's Fish" from the Bible story of St Peter catching a fish with a shekel in its mouth. I consider this an appropriate fish for Good Friday.

I'm considering either filleting it or sticking on the barbie. May have it with gnocchi or a mushroom risotto.

I am inspired by St. Peter's fish. I may have to stop and get some on the way home.
Okay... next quiz. I've been unable to devise something clever, so instead you get this:
CellarTracker tells me that I currently own 189 bottles of Port. Given that total, it seems to me that I own a rather large number of
different Ports. Or maybe not... it's entirely possible that I don't know what a normal ratio of "different" to "total" should be. So according to CellarTracker, how many
different Ports do I own?
Note: the answer is fixed as of this post, and is not subject to change based on tonight's (or this weekend's) Port consumption.

So I guess four cases, and the others split equally between singles, doubles, and quadruples.
• Four cases = 48 bottles, leaving 141 unexplained.
• 1+2+4 = 7, and 141/7 = 20 of each + a spare single.
Therefore I guess sixty-five.
Please reveal higher or lower.

mmm id say you'd probably have 16 different houses
amongst 189 bottles of port.
Out of which I know 3 of them are Fonseca 1970s.
186.
at least 2 of each are probably Kopke 10,20, 30 Tawny
180.
I believe you also mentioning a Fonseca 78 somewhere in your possessions
179.
along with a few fonseca 85s- because everyone should have one
167
due to my notes on the taylor lbv, I'd guess you have a 5 pack left of the 03 lbv.
162.
In terms of different bottles of port, you seem to buy in 3 packs, assuming 1 drunk per month.
i'd randomly hazard a guess at 54 different bottles.

Higher to both. I am impressed by the logic applied, and how remarkably accurate both are despite significant errors in assumptions.
g-man wrote:mmm id say you'd probably have 16 different houses
I hadn't counted that, but as it turns out the correct number is 23.

knowing the 3pack buying tendencies of Glenn,
We shall have to say there are at minimum of 69 different bottles.
After accounting for drinking habits and occasional one offs.
I'd say 74 in cellar
with 2 open bottles of which one is a tawny.

Both too high. Note that my "daily drinkers" never make it into CellarTracker, and so are not accounted for in this quiz.

You're not paying attention to the clues. Go back to Julian's guess (with made up workings to make it look like it wasn't a guess) and read on from there. Then wait until someone else guesses before guessing again within the available range

67 is correct.
Julian was surprisingly close with his intial guess considering that a) I have only ever purchased 1 case, b) I can't recall ever purchasing 4 at once, and c) by far my dominant purchase habit is a pair. Of course, if you make a sufficient number of repeat pair purchases, you end up with 6-packs and even cases occasionally.

Re the previous question: the first person to guess (me!) guessed 65, and the right answer was 67. I don’t feel embarrassed.
Re: One quiz at a time

It was a remarkably accurate guess, which leads me to believe that a 1:3 ratio of different to total bottles must be somewhat normal. I thought it seemed really high, especially considering how most people here seem to purchase by the case, but evidently not.
Also, after posting the quiz, I went back to CellarTracker and discovered that it wasn't actually counting different Ports, but different bottles of Port. So the three instances in my cellar where I have both 750s and 375s of the same Port were counting twice. Ergo an equally valid answer could have theoretically been 64, in which case your guess would have been even closer.

I'm back, so you can guess again. There are enough clues in the appropriate thread.
We did actually start and finish in different boroughs but the vast majority was in one - that's the one I want.

I wasn't aware that any city besides New York had boroughs!
Lancashire, huh? (Runs to look at Google maps...)
Okay, so knowing nothing about the area, but gleaning clues from this thread and the other one, I think that Manchester South probably isn't a borough. Derek guessed Salford, so I'm going to guess Trafford.

Lancaster - presumably a borough in Lancashire and also presumably at least part of the Lancaster canal runs through the borough of Lancaster thus allowing a walk from close to the home of someone who lives in Lancashire, with the walk being along the canals.
If so, you could have ended in either Wyre or Ribble Valley.

When I said I started in one, did the majority in this one and finished in a third - guess what the beginning and finishing boroughs were. Take a look at a map of Lancashire, see if there is a canal between the beginning and end and see what the borough in the middle is.
Have I given enough clues yet?
