What a rubbish guess. No.

No. This was entirely unrelated to my cellar. When I said Owen was getting closer I meant it literally, not that he was 'warmer' in terms of what he guessed: I did not leave Belfast during a time of plague or fire so had no need to bury my Parmesan.

Your garden fence had been blown down?

DRT wrote:Your garden fence had been blown down?
You are nearly there. This was a bit more dramatic though. A 50' cypress blew down. It very luckily missed both house and garage, and is now lying across my garden and my neighbour's as well. The only damage was to the mature plum tree that it fell across (see split branches in picture below). Once this has all been sawed and chopped and seasoned for a year, I will have plenty to feed my new wood-burning stove.
Rachel had wondered over Christmas whether this tree might be toppled in the storms. The strange omniscience of women, eh Derek?

No, for the same reason as above.

This is a question that might test your visual memory. It asks ‟what do these have in common?”

The plan is that, in response to wrong but competent guesses, further examples will be posted.

Competent guesses give more examples. You want to be guessing.

That might be enough for you to get it, but the next four clues, especially the third and fourth of them (so numbers seven and eight overall) should clinch it.

A sequence of eight two-digit numbers.
 00
48
05
20
12
01
17
What is the last two-digit number, and why? (I think that the team will like the answer.)

Glenn: you have no chance. Sorry. Don’t even bother trying.

Others might regard the direction to Glenn as a clue.

I think that if this is a question that Glenn has no hope of getting it is unlikely to be about Port declarations. But are we perhaps correct in thinking that these numbers are years? If so the sequence spans several centuries.

Very much so. To some of these islands, hypnotically trance inducing. To others, life-and-death practical.
