Between the ages of 10 and 12 I was part of a small group whose main activity was at weekends but occasionally during the week.
What was I doing?

I knew you must have been really good once, to have become this dissolute.
A lunch-related question has, I think, been prompted.
When I lunched today, which member of the Privy Council was at the next table?

It's quite simple really. Who gets appointed as PCs?

But fewer of them than there are vintage ports. Or occupations for 10-year-old boys. Or items on eBay.

Do you know the Bishop of Norwich?
(No, he isn’t automatically appointed Canterbury, York, and (mere Bish of) London. But it had to be done.)

No. A Duke is properly addressed as ‟The Most Noble”, at least in very official documents. But that is not true of the Bishop of Norwich. So it was merely a waste of a guess, rather than a noble waste.

There is no longer a title connected to Belfast. Lord Belfast was the name used by the eldest son of the Marquess of Donegall (
sic) but there is now no such personage.
There are titles connected to other places in Northern Ireland, however.

I wasn't guessing, I was answering your supplementary question. Are you saying that I have not captured all types of person who would be given a Peerage in the six counties?

I know you weren't guessing. I was saying it was a shame that having answered the supplementary question you couldn't then guess.
Your answer was inexact. Not all Northern Irish politicians join the PC; it has nothing to do with peerages either, most PCs are not peers.

He was lunching with most of the front line of the UUP from the 90s. Bizarre, as they'd all stabbed each other in the back multiple times over the years. Must have been a very good lunch.
