What is known so far:PhilW wrote:I have just opened and decanted a bottle of port. I was surprised to find that the cork did not have the producer's name on it; I believe this is the only bottle younger than I where I have seen this; I am certain it is not a fake. What is it?
And I think you said it was younger than you, should that be included as a fact?PhilW wrote:A recap, since we're on a new page. - It is not a VP, nor an SQVP
- It is not a Tawny
- It is bottled and shipped by a Portuguese producer
- It was purchased in the UK
- It is not from the '80s
- It is not Tuke Holdsworth, nor a Côtto
- It is not supermarket branded, nor a BOB
- I had never opened this port previously
You charmer.Glenn E. wrote:Niepoort Garrafeira 1977? (Is that younger than PhilW?)
I repeated the question in which that information appeared.djewesbury wrote:And I think you said it was younger than you, should that be included as a fact?
Nope, and not a white port.djewesbury wrote:It must be a white port then - is it Dalva 71?
Nope, and not a Garrafeira (yes).Glenn E. wrote:Niepoort Garrafeira 1977? (Is that younger than PhilW?)

Counting that as two questions (since probably helpful to do so, rather than just saying no):flash_uk wrote:I'm thinking a crusted port, from the 70s...
Indeed it is/was. I was intending to provide a pic of the cork, but it was "tidied" and I can't find it (probably gone with the rubbish collection). There was no brand on the cork, only "Crusted Port" and "Bottled 1998" (or it may just have been "Crusted 1998", I can't remember exactly). Surprising to me that it did not have "Graham's" on the cork.djewesbury wrote:It's a Graham Crusted. Er, 98?
No more guessing needed, you already got the answer :doh:djewesbury wrote:Oh - my guess now. Errmmm.

Lots of rule changing being proposed, without so much as an attempt at a consensus or even a vote. Pah! The old rules were good for 275 pages; let them continue.PhilW wrote:Don't feel obliged to follow up with another question; I think our previous approach of "ask when you have something" works better than "now you have to ask something"
I like that poll, especially as my vote that we should definitely not have a poll has now pushed that option into the lead.jdaw1 wrote:PhilW wrote:(this thread needs renaming to "20 questions"! ok... 17 questions/guesses remaining!)Lots of rule changing being proposed, without so much as an attempt at a consensus or even a vote. Somehow I knew you'd say that.jdaw1 wrote:I do hope that Daniel ignores this new-fangled revolutionary claptrap and does his duty.
Into a lead shared with two others.djewesbury wrote:I like that poll, especially as my vote that we should definitely not have a poll has now pushed that option into the lead.
People have up to five votes, which may be changed. Maybe somebody else voted, or maybe somebody changed his vote to confound your plans.djewesbury wrote:Has this poll been rigged?? I'm sure I was in the lead. Oh, democracy. This is why I don't want us to have a poll!
Isn't this what transferable voting systems are all about? They allow the electorate to frustrate a decision being made?jdaw1 wrote:People have up to five votes, which may be changed. By common consensus this Rule was struck down in the meeting where we realised that this game does not have 42 Rules.DRT wrote:I refer you to Rule 42b. Yes, but the answer needs to be more specific.CaliforniaBrad wrote:A celestial occurance?
No, I have seen that many times with the naked eye. What I witnessed was through a telescope.flash_uk wrote:my guess is the ISS.
No.mpij wrote:A conjunction of two planets?
No, but [clue incoming] you have correctly deduced that the "feature" I witnessed was a phenomenon rather than an object.djewesbury wrote:Was it a rain shower on Neptune?
No. Not on Earth.jdaw1 wrote:An atmospheric feature on earth?
