Well, here is the new question:
One of my favourite writers died tragically. In the last years of his life, he was an alcoholic. He was taken to hospital because of pneumonia. When the doctors took him off his booze, this abrupt withdrawal caused Delirium tremens and hastened his death.

It's western Ukraine, so definitely Ukraine, even by Russian standards.
