The only bit I saw on telly was a fat baby Jesus, replete with nappy striding across the stage singing in a rich baritone about excrement or some such. I felt strangely drawn to it.

Owen wins. It's 57.5%. A whisky from the SMWS called 'Balanced and Harmonious'. Delicious.

Jerry (reading cards): “From time immemorial heaven and hell have been at war. But is there a way of reconciling the irreconcilable, and giving both parties a sense of closure and chance to move … hold on, I don’t do never have done and never will do conflict resolution.”
Chorus: “Then you will fry.”
Jerry: “Please welcome my first guest, the Prince of Darkness, Satan”.
(And I thought that elderberry was the prince of darkness: how mistaken I was.)

From what or whom have I taken the following?
This calls for a celebration. I was going to palm you off with an indifferent port but let's see what we have here.

Not a Lord Peter Wimsey novel. The idea that Lord Peter would have any indifferent ports lying around his pied-à-terre is ridiculous.
I'm doing the mime that shows that it's a play, and a film.

It has a sort of 'Abigail's Party' feel to it.

Not he. More recent, though not very so. It is a London story.

And nobody in Abigail's Party drinks port. Port and lemon maybe. But not so you'd remark on the indifferent quality of the port itself.

The film version was made in a year in which VP was, on the whole, not made.
EDIT: what I mean is, I'm not aware of any, but I'm not so rash as to claim there was 'none'.

They didn't make it very much later. It's contemporaneous with the play. And much better known than it. And it's still not your turn.

The only playwrights I can think of between Priestley and Stoppard are Americans, Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams. I suppose Pinter would have been around, but I can't imagine he was into port. And as for the year it is all getting very obscure. 1954?
And these are just considerations around the question rather than guesses, so feel free to respond with something other than "It's not your turn".

Yes; I was deliberately imprecise. Then I gave further clues. Now go away and let someone else guess, you naughty boy.
