1940 Niepoort Garrafeira (bottled 1970)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 1945, decanted 1970. Honey brown in colour with a lemon yellow rim; 10% opaque. A gentle nose of clover honey and limes, soft and voluptuous. Soft and sweet on the palate with lots of clover honey sweetness wrapped around a core of sour apple acidity giving a wonderful sweet and sour experience. Delicious and lingering finish, very persistent and dominated by the honey flavours. 92/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
