A theme suggested by Flash: the ‘Sweet-Spot Vintages’, being 1966, 1970, and 1977, in each of Dow, Graham, Taylor, and Warre. So on Wednesday 17th June 2015 we gathered at Davy’s Woolgate.

From Sandeman. Deep purple in colour, opaque and with no rim. Powerful and pungent on the nose with lots of fruit and flowers creating a very inviting combination. Sweet blackcurrants on entry, then a wave of very firm tannins before the blackcurrant starts to come back. Lots of very fine fruit and some black chocolate. Powerful acidity (that becomes substantially more powerful with several days in the decanter) burns the throat on swallowing before a black chocolate and sour dried cherry finish of great length. 89-91/100.
