1982 Warre LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 1986. Deep chestnut red in colour, 60% opaque and mature in appearance. Candied red cherries and caramel on the nose. Sweet cherries on the palate with a slightly stewed tone to the fruit. A high dose of acidity comes through on the mid-palate, leading to a mild coffee element. The aftertaste is clean, sweet and dominated by the caramel and sour cherry with the sour cherry lasting nicely on the multi-phase finish. These are remarkably good ports that are beautifully mature and come packed with the elegance that is typical of Warre's wines. 88/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
