Deep crimson with a medium rim. Blackcurrant and blueberry nose, sweet and balanced. A burst of tropical fruit on entry, then blueberries and balsamic vinegar with rounded tannins. A lovely fragrance when mixed with air. Lively and peppery finish that moves through multiple phases. Fantastic length finish, dominated by the fruitskin tannins. Attractive port. 90/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
