2015 Niepoort Bioma

Cask sample. Deep purple colour with a narrow rim. An astonishing nose full of cigar tobacco and cedar wood. Deeply fruit flavoured on the palate with black cherry and violets wrapped around some soft and elegant tannins; the range of textures and components knits together into a beautiful harmony. Fruit and violets lead on the finish. This is such a harmonious and elegant port. 94-96/100 but with another 18 months to go in the barrel. Tasted 07-Nov-16.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
