Drunk at the Graham's Lodge at the end of a tour of the new visitors centre. Ex-cellars.
Deep red with a reddish-brown element to the colour; a wide rim but an opaque centre. A little muted on the nose showing some spirit but little else. Lovely sweet fruit on entry, full of baked rhubarb and brown sugar. Then a wave of tannin and cocoa fills the mouth before fading to give way to sweet caramel and dried dates. Surprisingly tannic aftertaste and a big, dry finish of great length with a burst of burnt sugar at the end. This is a surprisingly big port that has a delicious layering of flavour on the palate and the finish. 90/100. Drunk 20-Jun-17.
