25% opacity, red-brown, slightly cloudy. Concentrated nose, red fruits. Smooth and syrupy, heat mid to late palate plus dryness. Fruit drying out.

Ex-cellars bottle from Quinta do Cachão, courtesy of Miguel Perreira at a tasting organised by Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

A mature ochre red, 30% opaque. Little on the nose — in fact, nothing on the nose! — but on the palate there is lots juicy red fruit, full and rich with a beautiful rich mouthfeel that comes as a real surprise. Nicely balanced by fragrant acidity that really blossoms on the aftertaste and highlights the fruit on the finish. Given the vintage, this was a real surprise. 86/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 9 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
