Dark red colour with no purple and just starting to develop some brick tone. Subdued nose, a little fruit and flower perfume emerging after a swirl. A lovely texture on the palate, nicely balanced with the floral fruit dominating with its primary profile. Rich palate with elegance, big sweet fruit, gentle tannins and plenty of acidity. The acidity turns into a bit of heat on the aftertaste. Lots of generous fruit on the palate and a touch of black liquorice on the finish. This is a fabulous Port — rich, bold and full of tannin and completely different in style from the Taylor. 93/100. 17-Mar-20. Decanted 21 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
