RP 20Y, bottled 1968, decanted at the bar. Orange 20% opaque. Nose full of old-Croft orange citrus. Mid weight, very soft, long, soft soft soft: a fine old tawny.

Brown and slightly cloudy. Nose nutty with a hint of apricots. Sultanas, raisins, orange peel, caramel on the palate. Lovely length. This would have been a highly regarded wine at a normal tasting.

Ramos-Pinto 20YO Tawny, bottled in 1968: hazelnut brown colour, or perhaps a deep orange; 40% opaque. Slightly tired, slightly oxidised nose, lots of bruised oranges. Sweet on the entry, gentle honey with soft orange blossom. Rich but with a lovely acidity balancing the palate. The orange blossom honey settles on the palate and sits well for a long time, with only very slight hints of the oxidation from the time in the bottle showing. 87/100.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
