NV Fonseca Tawny 20YO (bottled 2017)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled in half bottle in 2017. Washing up liquid and beeswax on the nose, not attractive. A little thin and with very aggressive acidity on the palate. Spicy and hot with dark honey and molasses. On the late palate a little bitter grapefruit oil shows through the acidity. Hot aftertaste, some tannic support to the grapefruit oil on the long finish. Hot and bitter, this tastes like a half bottle not stored well. 82/100.  Open 1 hour. Tasted 13-Jan-23.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
