NV Niepoort Tawny 20YO (bottled 2017)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2017. Deep orange amber colour, 30% opaque. A little acacia honey on the nose, perhaps a hint of orange zest. Wonderfully balanced palate, smooth yet full of wonderful marmalade acidity. Rich, powerful bitter-sweet orange dominates the aftertaste, slowly moving through lime marmalade to bitter grapefruit oil while always managing to keep a delicious honeyed balance. A fine sipping Port. 89/100. Tasted 22-Jan-23. Opened 1 day.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.

2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
