With the wonderful BFT 2023 fast approaching I realise that I failed terribly at my homework from Alex - write a tasting note of some kindly provided samples for volunteering. I did do it - just forgot to post.
Better late than never?
Tasted 11/06/22 - 60ml sample
Light amber and relatively viscous (compared to a similarly aged tawny let's say). Nose is like a "mild madiera" (I don't know madiera that well so it shall remain that) which is perhaps a little too astrigent for my liking. A lovely texture in the mouth with a great, smokey heat. Prunes and dates are quite dominant with an excellent balance of sweetness to acidity. My partner noted caramel/molasses.
I'd have that again.
