Emergency - Constantino 1947 - and friends..

Post by uncle tom »

I quite enjoy writing Excel VB code - my magnum opus to date has been a piece of code, now nearly 2000 lines long and with nearly 60 defined variables, whose sole purpose was to choose my next bottle of port to drink at home. It started out quite humbly, and every time I disagreed with it's call, I worked out why I disagreed and revised the code.

- But it's getting angry with me now..

I've never drunk a Constantino at home, nor a 1947; It has a top shoulder level, which puts it in the bottom 0.7% of bottles in my cellar, level-wise, and I'm also being reminded that I am 29.3% overstocked on 1947 VP..

This is an iconic wine - the heir to N31 in one of my distant notes - it demands to be shared..

B&F - soon - what suits?

Tuesday the 10th is already taken. The 24th would be a yes from me.

Selfishly, I would prefer 17 October, as it’s half term the following week and I’m not about. However, this date hasn’t been offered up and so I suspect does not suit others.

I'm fine with the 17th ..... I'm trying to work out what I can bring along to be friends with the Constantino :-)

I could probably make the 24th. I can’t make the 10th (or 17th).
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Would be lovely to catch up soon been ages but sadly I cannot do this month.
I find this wine seriously strange and am rather surprised you see it as the heir to N31 but let’s see how you get on.

Well damn! I now can’t make it on the 24th. I’m at the opera.

So it'll be a Night at the Opera? Queen or the Marx Brothers?

Agree - dates in mid Nov that work better for people?

November is looking a bit congested in my diary. Choose a date which works for everyone else and I’ll attend if there’s space around the table and in my diary.

Lost track on this as have been on holiday for a couple of weeks, but has a date been agreed?

If not, how about holding off for a ‘47 horizontal soon?

I was thinking about proposing this for next year anyway.

A '47 vertical would be very flat.

I'm wondering whether we might resurrect 'the elegant luncheon' on the day before the Xmas bash - and consume this bottle along with various wines, not necessarily port, at a suitable London venue?
