To record tasting notes and thoughts on fortified wines we might try which do not come from the demarcated region of the Douro Valley

NV Blandy Terrantez 15YO

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Blandy’s Terrantez 15YO, bottled 2002. A rich golden-brown colour. Bright nose, warm and savoury. Acidic entry, bitter grapefruit on the mid-palate, saline and iodine palate but with some residual sugar to deliver a medium-sweet sensation. Glorious aftertaste, rich and full of bitter-sweet marmite. Beautifully balanced and refined. From vineyards which vanished in the early 1990s under the Madeira shopping centre.  92/100. Drunk 03-Mar-24.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
