1978 Croft Roeda

Post by nac »

From an OWC case of 12 purchased from a broking list 2 or 3 years ago.

Pop, decant & pour.

Good long cork, maybe one third saturated. Bottle in excellent condition generally.

A bit cloudy due to some fine sediment, but maybe 75 % opaque. Darker than anticipated.

Not much on the nose - probably needs some decant time - but not unpleasant.

Mouth more advanced. Some nice red fruit and citrus. Next to no tannin, but good balance. Alcohol not noticeable. Quite long.

Pretty good. Like this. And often I like Roeda.

VacUVined & then at +24 hours...

Nose still fairly dumb, but palate has opened up just a little bit. Maybe some fig that wasn't there yesterday.

Not great, but still enjoyable.
