Hi all,
I hope it’s ok to post this here as I’ve just joined. I have 7 bottles of vintage port to sell as follows:
4 bottles Sandeman 1963 (one with some damage to side of seal which has left cork partially showing, cork not damaged)
1 bottle Smith Woodhouse 1970
1 bottle WJ Graham 1960
1 bottle Gonzalez 1970
I’m not a big port drinker and these were set aside for me by my uncle. I’d rather they went somewhere they will be appreciated. They’ve been correctly stored in my parents house in a room temperature cupboard.
Beyond the above info I don’t really know where to begin selling them except auction which doesn’t seem ideal from what I’ve read. Looking for a buyer or just general advice. I’m based in Scotland. Happy to sell them as a package or individually.
Will try to upload pictures shortly if I can work it out.
Many thanks,
Chris

7 misc bottles for sale - now sold
Re: 7 misc bottles for sale
Hi Chris,
Depending on where your parents live, a room temperature cupboard is not actually correct storage for a bottle of Port. Port - like any other red wine - should be stored in a cool place for long-term storage. Recommendations generally range from 12C to 16C.
That said, if the bottles have only been stored that way for a few years they will probably still be in good shape. I have many bottles stored at room temperature (due to lack of space in my wine refrigerators), but I plan to drink all of the bottles stored that way within 10 years.

Thanks for the info, I’m by no means an expert!
They were in a cupboard in a pantry type area. Certainly cooler than the rest of the house. I’d say around the top end of your recommendation if I had to guess.
