Cockburn's Special Reserve had it's genesis (I think..) in the mid 70s, and for three decades only appears to have had one design change, with the word Cockburn's changing from white to gold.
Shortly before the Symingtons bought Cockburn's there was a radical design change, replacing the iconic semi pota bottle with a square shouldered bottle. It was ugly and the Syms ditched it in short order. Well done.
The replacement bottle was slightly waisted, and has since been replaced by a straight sided bottle, that makes five designs.
Cockburns LBV has now been given a dramatic re-design, with a floral label and a return to the semi pota style.

I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly - W.S. Churchill

Also noteworthy is the double-credit for “Winemaker”: “Charles Symington and Ricardo Carvalho”.
